Wandjina Explorer, Kununurra
In the culture of the Kimberley people, the Wandjina is a respected spirit being who brings wet season storms, water and life to a parched land. Visit Wandjina country, departing Kununurra along the Ord River towards the unique House Roof Hill, where much of the movie ‘Australia’ was filmed. Track to the historic port of Wyndham and the Cambridge Gulf. Overfly the Berkeley River and then onwards to the King George River and its truly awesome falls. Land at WA’s most remote indigenous community of Kalumburu to enjoy a picnic lunch and a tour of their historic mission, museum, the WWII aircraft “graveyard” and the community itself. Continue over the historic Truscott Airfield, then on to the pearl farms of Vansittart Bay. Descend lower and orbit over the famous Mitchell Falls before setting course for Kununurra via the Cockburn Ranges, Home Valley Station and the El Questro Wilderness Park.

Upon landing at the natural bauxite airstrip at Mitchell Plateau you will be greeted by your tour guide. A 4WD and guided walk to the Mitchell Falls then return by helicopter to Mitchell Falls Wilderness Lodge for your overnight accommodation. In the morning you board your aircraft for a scenic flight taking in Port Warrender, the Kimberley Coastal Camp, the rich pearl farms of Vansittart Bay and the WWII Truscott airbase.
