Overnight: Fitzroy River Lodge – Motel Room

Day 2 – Fitzroy Crossing to Halls Creek, 287kms, 3hrs

If you didn’t arrive in time yesterday for a Geikie Gorge cruise don’t miss out on doing one this morning. It will also be worth a visit to China Wall, a natural white stone wall which looks just like a miniature ‘Great Wall of China’. It is located just outside of the town of Halls Creek.

Overnight: Kimberley Hotel – Standard Room

Day 3 – Halls Creek to Kununurra, 358kms, 3.75hrs

Travel to Kununurra today, home to Lake Argyle, the Ord River, Kelly’s Knob and Elephant Rock.  The rest of the day is yours to relax and enjoy the town of Kununurra. Take a walk to Kelly’s Knob Lookout late in the afternoon for a great view of the town and valley at sunset.

Overnight: Freshwater Apartments – Studio

Day 4 – Kununurra

A couple of ideas to consider are a full day Bungle Bungle tour including scenic flight down to the Bungle Bungles, a ground tour including a 3km walk into Cathedral Gorge and a return scenic flight over the ancient Ragged Ranges and the Argyle Diamond Mine.  Another option is a guided tour with a beautiful cruise down the Ord River. The tour includes a visit to Lake Argyle and the historic Argyle Homestead Museum. Then return via a 55km boat cruise along the mighty Ord River to Kununurra.

Overnight: Freshwater Apartments – Studio

Day 5 – Kununurra to Lake Argyle, 71kms, 1hr

Day 6 – Lake Argyle to Nitmiluk Gorge, 541kms, 6hrs

Day 7 – Nitmiluk Gorge

You are staying just a 600 metre walk to the departure point for boat cruises and canoes at Nitmiluk Gorge. Take in the diversity of the landscapes and habitats with one of the cruises on offer or maybe a canoeing adventure, a visual treat for any nature lover. A sunset cruise with delicious Australian cuisine can be enjoyed, whilst taking in the magnificent backdrop of the Nitmiluk Gorge, with its cliff face changing colour as the sun sets.

Day 8 – Nitmiluk Gorge to Jabiru, 331kms, 3.5hrs

Leave Katherine this morning for an easy drive to kakadu National Park. Stop at Kakadu Lodge Cooinda to take a cruise on the Yellow Water Billabong. Overnight: Anbinik Kakadu Resort – Anbinik Suite

Day 9 – Jabiru

Today you are free to enjoy the sites of Kakadu. The Guluyambi Cultural Cruise on Kakadu’s scenically spectacular East Alligator River or an exceptional Aboriginal Cultural & Heritage Day Tour into Arnhem Land & Northern Kakadu are just a couple of ideas.
